After a couple of weeks off from league rugby, one due to storm Dennis, the V's 1xv were back in action at home against league leaders Uttoxeter. In the reverse fixture earlier in the season, V's struggled to play their game on what must be the smallest pitch in the country!

At home, the game was far more competitive with V's getting an early score from Jon Fellows. Uttoxeter was attacking V's 22 when the spilt the ball and the V's took the advantage and but Jon away to canter in from the half way line for the first score after 5 mins. Uttoxeter hit back quickly and following a scrum, which they had dominance in all game, some sloppy defending allowed the winger in, The try was converted. The rest of the half it consisted of Uttoxeter trying to dominate through a power game and the V's playing the more adventurous rugby. This resulted in a second try for Jon Fellows and a first try for young second row Luke Richards, in his first start of the 1's. Both converted by Matt Gillick. V's were now 19-7 up and in full control of the game when in the last play of the half the Uttoxeter winger picked up on a loose pass and made his way under the posts to leave the half time score 19-14 to the V's.

In the second half V's were playing uphill and into a strong wind but again playing the more attractive rugby scored with Lawerence Springate going over under the post converted by Matt Gillick, 26-14 to V's. The remainder of the game followed the first half with Uttoxeter greater power game taking its toll on the younger, lighter V's pack, which brought three tries putting the away side 26-31 up. Then in the final minutes with V's pushing for a converted try which would get them the win, the ball was turned over and Uttoxeter ran in a final try denying V's the losing bonus point 26-36. V's did, however, get a try bonus point.
