After a week off Veseyans 1xv continued there league campaign with a home fixture against Linley & Kidsgrove from Stoke. This was the first ever meeting between the two clubs so neither knew what to expect.

Playing uphill in the first half Veseyans applied immediate pressure to the Linley try line however handling errors allowed the away side to clear their lines. Eventually though, with the amount of possession V's had they started to make it pay with a brace of tries from centre Matt Dell and an opportunist snipe from scrum half Dan Hemming who took advantage of the blind side being left unguarded at a ruck in the 22 coming in a 10 minute spell.

The first two tries converted by Matt Gillick. Linely then managed to have a sustained period of pressure themselves and challenged the V's try line but with no joy. A 5m Linley lineout was stolen by V's skipper Bobbie Russell and the ball passed out to centre Lewis Gaffney who broke the first tackle then went on a length of the field gallop, squatting off the covering defence to get the try bonus point before half time; again converted by Matt Gillick. Half time the score was 26-0.

The 2nd half started with Linley having early pressure, not helped by some silly penalties conceded by the V's. Again the pressure on the V's try line was repelled and from a penalty awarded deep in their 22, Jacob Hollins, making his first start for the 1xv, saw the opportunity to run rather than kick for touch and started a counter attack which went the length of the field and ended with winger Jon Fellows dotting down under the posts. Jacob Hollins converted.

Only some resolute defence and handling mistakes prevented the flood gates opening but Matt Dell did manage to get his hatrick after a series of phases stretched the Linley defence and Dell using his pace to exploit the gap. Again converted by Gillick. The scoring was rounded off deep into the 2nd half when Man of the Match, Courtney Cummings, went on another barnstorming run, broke the defensive line and delivered a lovely offload to the supporting Lewis Gaffney who strolled under the posts. The conversion added by Gillick. A good afternoons work by the V's with the final score being 47-0.
